Healing Sound Science

Sound that works
at the cellular level

Sound is vibration transmitted through air molecules. These vibrations not only penetrate the nervous system through the ears, but impact our body through the skin, generating a vibratory resonance in our body. This resonance, although subtle, has an impact on the internal processes of our organism. Different sound frequencies have different specific therapeutic effects. Healing using sound frequencies has been around for centuries to promote the well-being of the mind and body. Healing frequencies are used in holistic and Eastern medicine to treat a whole range of ailments, from anxiety and depression to menstrual pain and insomnia. While sound and frequencies are used to impact human health in a variety of ways, there are specific frequencies that are considered in alternative medicine to be particularly healing for the human body. In addition to isochronic tones, binaural and Solfeggio frequencies, Aloharmony offers other frequencies that possess therapeutic properties, including the following:

396–963 Hz

Solfeggio Frequencies

Ancient tones for modern healing

Solfeggio frequencies are a set of ancient musical tones used in Gregorian chanting and rediscovered by Dr. Joseph Puleo in the 1990s. Each frequency in the scale corresponds to a specific intention: 396 Hz for releasing guilt and fear, 417 Hz for facilitating change, 528 Hz — known as the "Love Frequency" — associated with DNA repair and transformation, 639 Hz for connection and relationships, 741 Hz for expression and problem-solving, 852 Hz for spiritual intuition, and 963 Hz for connection to higher consciousness.

Aloharmony integrates Solfeggio frequencies as sub-harmonic layers woven beneath original compositions. You don't hear them as separate tones — you experience their effect as you listen. The music is the delivery mechanism; the frequencies are the medicine.

1–40 Hz

Binaural Beats

Two tones, one transformation

Binaural beats are an auditory illusion. When two slightly different frequencies are played separately into each ear — say, 200 Hz in the left and 210 Hz in the right — your brain perceives a third, phantom tone at the difference frequency (10 Hz, in this case, which falls in the Alpha range). This perceived beat entrains your brainwaves toward that frequency.

The mechanism is called frequency-following response. Your brain naturally synchronizes to the perceived beat, making binaural beats one of the most direct tools for influencing mental state without conscious effort. Delta binaural beats guide toward deep sleep; Theta toward meditative states; Alpha toward calm focus; Beta toward alertness; Gamma toward peak cognition. Binaural beats require headphones for full effect.

1–40 Hz

Isochronic Tones

Rhythmic pulses for brainwave entrainment

Isochronic tones are single tones that pulse on and off at specific intervals — creating a rhythmic beat that the brain follows. Unlike binaural beats, they don't require headphones: the pulsing is audible through any speaker. This makes them more versatile and, according to many practitioners, more powerful for certain applications.

The sharply defined on/off rhythm of isochronic tones produces a more pronounced neural response than the smooth oscillation of binaural beats. Aloharmony layers isochronic tones into focus and sleep tracks where precise brainwave targeting matters most. The effect is subtle when listening casually; the difference becomes noticeable over repeated sessions.

432 Hz

432 Hz Tuning

Natural resonance & the Schumann frequency

Standard modern music is tuned to A = 440 Hz, a convention adopted globally in 1939. 432 Hz tuning uses A = 432 Hz instead — a frequency that aligns more closely with the Schumann resonance (the electromagnetic frequency of the Earth's atmosphere, approximately 7.83 Hz and its harmonics). Proponents describe 432 Hz music as warmer, more resonant, and more connected to the natural world.

While the science of 432 Hz is still debated, many listeners consistently report a qualitative difference — less tension, more emotional resonance. Aloharmony includes tracks tuned to 432 Hz for listeners who are sensitive to this distinction, particularly in meditation and relaxation categories.

528 Hz

528 Hz — The Love Frequency

Transformation, repair & emotional centering

528 Hz is the most discussed of the Solfeggio frequencies and has attracted the most scientific attention. Known as the "Love Frequency" or "Miracle Tone," it sits in the heart of the Solfeggio scale. Some researchers, including Dr. Leonard Horowitz, have claimed connections between 528 Hz and DNA repair mechanisms, pointing to chlorophyll (which gives plants their green color) vibrating at this frequency.

Anecdotally, 528 Hz is reported to reduce anxiety and stress, promote emotional clarity, and create a feeling of love and peace. Aloharmony uses 528 Hz as a foundational layer in heart-centered meditation tracks and in the Chakra Activation category, particularly for the heart chakra (Anahata).
